Islam and the Question of Violence

June 3, 2007

Despite the presence of violence in many regions of the world ranging from Ireland to Lebanon to the Pacific Basin and involving many religions from Christianity to Hinduism, the Western world associates Islam more than any other religion with violence. The Muslim conquest of Spain, the Crusades – which were not begun by Muslims -, and the Ottoman domination of eastern Europe have provided a historical memory of Islam as being related to force and power. Moreover, the upheavals of the past few decades in the Middle East and especially movements using the name of Islam and seeking to solve problems of the Muslim world created by conditions and causes beyond the control of Muslims have only reinforced the idea prevalent in the West that in some special way Islam is related to violence.
To understand the nature of Islam and the truth about the assertion often made of Islam’s espousal of violence. it is important to analyze this question clearly remembering that the word islam itself means peace and that the history of Islam has certainly not been witness to any more violence than one finds in other civilizations, particularly that of the West. In what follows. however, it is the Islamic religion in its principles and ideals with which we are especially concerned and not particular events or facts relating to the domain of historical contingency belonging to the unfolding of Islam in the plane of human history
First of all, it is necessary to define what we mean by violence. There are several dictionary definitions that can be taken into account such as ’swift and intense force’, ‘rough or injurious physical force or action’, ‘unjust or unwarranted exertion of force especially against the rights of others’, rough or immediate vehemence’ and finally ‘injury resulting from the distortion of meaning or fact’. If these definitions are accepted for violence, then the question can be asked as to how Islam is related to these definitions. As far as ‘force’ is concerned, Islam is not completely opposed to its use but rather seeks to control it in the light of the divine Law (al-shari’a). This world is one in which force is to be found everywhere, in nature as well as in human society, among men as well as within the human soul. The goal of Islam is to establish equilibrium amidst this field of tension of various forces. The Islamic concept of justice itself is related to equilibrium, the word for justice (al-’adl) in Arabic being related in its etymology to the word for equilibrium (ta’adul). All force used under the guidance of the divine Law with the aim of re-establishing an equilibrium that is destroyed is accepted and in fact necessary, for it means to carry out and establish justice. Moreover, not to use force in such a way is to fall prey to other forces which cannot but increase disequilibrium and disorder and result in greater injustice. Whether the use of force in this manner is swift and intense or gentle and mild depends upon the circumstances, but in all cases force can only be used with the aim of establishing equilibrium and harmony and not for personal or sectarian reasons identified with the interests of a person or a particular group and not the whole.
By embracing the ‘world’ and not shunning the ‘kingdom of Caesar’, Islam took upon itself responsibility for the world in which force is present. But by virtue of the same fact it limited the use of force and despite all the wars, invasions, and attacks which it experienced. it was able to create an ambiance of peace and tranquility which can still be felt whenever something of the traditional Islamic world survives. The peace that dominates the courtyard of a mosque or a garden whether it be in Marrakesh or Lahore is not accidental but the result of the control of force with the aim of establishing that harmony which results from equilibrium of forces, whether those forces be natural, social or psychological.
As for the meaning of violence as ‘rough or injurious physical force or action’, Islamic Law opposes all uses of force in this sense except in the case of war or for punishment of criminals in accordance with the shari’a. Even in war, however, the inflicting of any injury to women and children is forbidden as is the use of force against civilians. Only fighters in the field of battle must be confronted with force and it is only against them that injurious physical force can be used. Inflicting injuries outside of this context or in the punishment of criminals according to the dictum of the shari’a and the view of a judge is completely forbidden by Islamic Law.
As far as violence in the sense of the use of unjust force against the rights of others and laws is concerned, Islam stands totally opposed to it. Rights of human beings are defined by Islamic Law and are protected by this Law which embraces not only Muslims but also followers of other religions who are considered as ‘People of the Book (ahl al-kitab)‘. If there is nevertheless violation in Islamic society, it is due not to the teachings of Islam but the imperfection of the human recipients of the Divine Message. Man 15 man wherever he might be and no religion can neutralize completely the imperfections inherent in the nature of fallen man. What is remarkable, however, is not that some violence in this sense of the word does exist in Muslim societies, but that despite so many negative social and economic factors aggravated by the advent of colonialism, overpopulation, industrialization, modernization resulting in cultural dislocation, and so many other elements, there is less violence as unjust exertion of force against others in most Islamic countries than in the industrialized West.
If one understands by violence ‘rough or immoderate vehemence’. then Islam is totally opposed to it. The perspective of Islam is based upon moderation and its morality is grounded upon the principle of avoiding extremes and keeping to the golden mean. Nothing is more alien to the Islamic perspective than vehemence, not to say immoderate vehemence. Even if force is to be used, it must be on the basis of moderation.
Finally, if by violence is meant ‘distortion of meaning or fact resulting in injury to others’, Islam is completely opposed to it. Islam is based on the Truth which saves and which finds its supreme expression in the testimony of the faith, la ilaha illa ‘Llah (there is no divinity but the Divine). Any distortion of truth is against the basic teachings of the religion even if no one were to be affected by it. How much more would distortion resulting in injury be against the teachings of the Qur’an and the tradition of the Prophet!
In conclusion it must be emphasized that since Islam embraces the whole of life and does not distinguish between the sacred and the secular, it concerns itself with force and power which characterize this world as such. But Islam, in controlling the use of force in the direction of creating equilibrium and harmony, limits it and opposes violence as aggression to the rights of both God and His creatures as defined by the divine Law. The goal of Islam is the attainment of peace but this peace can only be experienced through that exertion (jihad) and the use of force which begins with the disciplining of ourselves and leads to living in the world in accordance with the dicta of the shar’ia. Islam seeks to enable man to live according to his theomorphic nature and not to violate that nature. Islam condones the use of force only to the extent of opposing that centripetal tendency which turns man against what he is in his inner reality. The use of force can only be condoned in the sense of undoing the violation of our own nature and the chaos which has resulted from the loss of equilibrium. But such a use of force is not in reality violence as usually understood. It is the exertion of human will and effort in the direction of conforming to the Will of God and in surrendering the human will to the divine Will. From this surrender (taslim) comes peace (salam), hence (islam), and only through this (islam) can the violence inbred within the nature of fallen man be controlled and the beast within subdued so that man lives at peace with himself and the world because he lives at peace with God.

Poll: Only 3% of Americans support sending more troops to Iraq

June 3, 2007

Only 3% of all Americans support sending more troops to Iraq while a solid majority want troops brought back home, according to the latest Gallup poll.1,007 national adults were asked the question “If you could talk with President Bush for fifteen minutes about the situation in Iraq, what would you, personally, advise him to do?”

54% wanted to tell Bush to focus on an exit strategy, while 6% percent wanted Bush to apologise for his mistakes. A further 7% wanted the President to work with the United Nations to end the violence in Iraq.

Overall only 25% wanted Bush to “stay the course”, including the 3% who wanted to tell the President to send more troops to Iraq.

But President Bush was adamant that his decision to invade Iraq was not a mistake.

Israel Blows Up Nablus Water Lines

June 3, 2007

Water, sewage and electrical lines were cut in the West Bank town of Nablus Saturday in a series of explosions carried out by the Israeli occupation regime.

Officials at City Hall said dozens of Palestinian shops and homes were damaged during the Israeli army’s blasting of concrete barriers blocking entrances to the crowded Old City. The pre-dawn explosions left thousands without running water and electricity, though repair teams were out by midmorning. Said Handiyeh, a Nablus city council member, estimated the damage at $100,000. He said a 60-year old woman was slightly hurt by shattering glass.

The occupation military, which conducts frequent kidnap raids against Palestinians in Nablus, said it would look into the report.

In southern Gaza, a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad movement was martyred in an Israeli missile strike while two Palestinian children were shot dead by occupation forces.

Palestinians identified the man as 22-year-old Fadi Abu-Mustafa, and said he was driving his motorcycle in Khan Younis when a missile hit him and martyred him.

Dozens of local residents who gathered at the site carried his body to the local morgue while chanting “God is great”.

Khader Habib, Islamic Jihad leader said the new airstrike indicates that the Zionist regime is not interested in reaching truce with the Palestinian factions.

A Zionist army statement confirmed the aerial strike and said that Abu Mustafa was involved in recent days in activity against Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier Friday, Islamic Jihad said it fired two rockets toward Zionist targets.

In the past two weeks Palestinian resistance fighters have fired more than 270 rockets from Gaza, killing two Israelis in retaliation for the occupation regime’s ruthless air campaign.

More than 60 Palestinians have been martyred so far and the Zionist regime has also carried out limited ground operations.

The Zionist regime’s strikes began in mid-May, wrecking a five-month ceasefire between the occupation and Palestinian resistance fighters.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Palestinians in the Jebaliya refugee camp took to the streets to bury two children who were shot and martyred by occupation troops near the fence with Occupied Palestine Friday.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed that troops had shot at what she called suspicious figures and that they reported hitting three people.

Rescue workers said Ahmed Abu Zeibeida and Zaher al-Majdalawi, both 13, were shot in the chest and stomach by Zionist troops. They were reported to be scouring the area for scrap metal.

The Zionist army spokesman added that a third 16-year-old youth was lightly wounded.

The boys’ families said the youths had said they were going swimming.

“They are only kids … they were executed,” said a brother of one of the boys, Talaat al-Majdawli.

Zaher al-Majdawli sold sweets outside their home to earn money for the family. This Friday, the first of the summer vacation, he asked his father to go the beach instead, his brother said.

“No one dares to reach this area to install rockets,” al-Majdawi said.

Ahmed Abu Zeibeida had said he was going to the beach, said his brother, Suleiman Abu Zeibeida, 23.

Seeking Judaization of Jerusalem: Israel prevents Muslim burials

June 3, 2007

Israeli authorities have been preventing Palestinians for several months from burying their dead in a Muslim cemetery at the foot of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque, sources on both sides said yesterday.

On order from Public Security Minister Avi Dichter, Muslims can no longer bury their dead in an 800-square-metre stretch of the cemetery that borders the eastern wall of the compound, revered by Jews and Muslims.
“For more than six months, Israeli police have prevented Palestinians from burying their dead in this area, already home to several tombs in which bodies have been buried,” said Adnan Husseini from the Higher Islamic Council.

“They are maintaining the land in question is not part of the cemetery but earmarked as an archaeological park. That is not true and we have documents proving that this land is part of the cemetery,” he added.

Dichter’s chief of staff, Mati Gill, said the ground in question had been declared an archaeological park by the Israeli government several years ago.

“In August 2006, Dichter was shown that the decision for many years had not been implemented. He decided to enforce it by not allowing any new burials but not removing the existing ones,” he said.“No one will be able to touch the old grave sites,” he added.

Jewish organisations have launched a campaign to stop Palestinians from burying their dead in the ground and have taken the matter to Israel’s high court, which is yet to take a decision.

According to the Israeli media, police have identified 21 graves, 39 empty ones and 35 plots, but are unsure whether the latter are in use.

“Israel is defying the will of the international community and international resolutions with a new plan … to pursue the judaization of Jerusalem,” said Abdullah Kanaan of Jordan’s Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs.

“The pretext is to search for antiquities … but the truth is it is not about searching for antiquities at all but to control the holy city,” he told Petra news agency in remarks published by Jordanian dailies.

Earlier this year Israel triggered an outcry in Arab and Muslim countries over excavation and repair work near the

 Al-Aqsa compound.

Former CIA Doctor: AIDS Is Man Made Pentagon Genocide

June 3, 2007

by Dr. Alan Cantwell & Dr. Sue Arrago

http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/

To all persons interested in the man-made origin of AIDS…

I am a physician and AIDS researcher who has authored two books on the man-made origin of HIV/AIDS (“AIDS & THE DOCTORS OF DEATH: AN INQUIRY INTO THE ORIGIN OF THE AIDS EPIDEMIC” and “QUEER BLOOD: THE SECRET AIDS GENOCIDE PLOT.”).

On the eve of the Blue Moon of May 31, 2007, I was sent the most explosive email I have ever received concerning possible insider evidence pertaining to the man-made epidemic of AIDS.

The communication was sent by Sue Arrigo, M.D., who claimed she was a physician licensed in California (G50197). Because her email (attached below) was so mind-blowing, I immediately googled Arrigo and found several entries including a note on one website in which Arrigo claimed to have been kidnapped, raped and threatened with death in 2004 (this as NOT mentioned in her email to me). In addition, I checked online and verified that she was indeed alicensed CA physician, although her license expired in December, 2006, and her current residence is in Canada.

In her email Dr. Arrigo asked if I would help her get the word out to interested persons. I would ask that anyone who receives this communication to do all they can to spread the word regarding her accusations that AIDS is a man-made disease.

Over the past two decades there have been only a handful of other physicians and health professionals who have had the courage to alert the public to evidence that AIDS is man-made (namely Robert Strecker MD, William Campbell Douglass MD, Eva Snead MD, and Leonard G Horowitz DDS) .

In general, their research (books, videos, internet communications) have been ignored by the CDC, the NIH, the AIDS establishment, the major media, etc. – and merely passed over as “conspiracy theory” and “paranoia.”

Dr. Arrigo has a long association with the CIA as an expert on biological warfare, and also has apparent ties to the highest powers (and presidents) in the U.S. government.

Thus, her insider status makes her an extremely valuable witness to the truth about AIDS and its man-made origin. Please do all you can to confirm or deny the truth of Dr. Arrigo’s accusations – and to publicize her plight – and to air her plea on behalf of the abominations of secret biological warfare experimentation and use against human beings. I have attached the google references to “sue arrigo”, her email to me in its entirety, proof of her CA medical credentials, and a website note of her rape and torture.

In truth and justice,
Alan Cantwell M.D.

On May 31, 2007, at 8:32 PM, Sue Arrigo wrote:

Dear Dr. Cantwell,
Thank you for your courage and integrity in speaking the truth. As an ex- CIA physician with high level access, I wrote a report for DCI Webster in about 1991 arguing for closure of all the US Bio-Warfare Labs. I did that after reviewing the Ft. Detrick and the CIA’s Langley Bio-Warfare Labs’s research, looking at their own documents. That review was authorized because Bush, Sr. had sold dangerous Bio-Warfare agents to Hussein, which I ended up having to recover from Iraq. Webster, as a former judge, willing to evaluate the evidence, allowed me to research the field and write a report for him of close to 100 pages and 1000 pages of supporting documents.

Although the focus of my report was why the Bio-Warfare Labs should be closed, the issue of the HIV virus developed by the Ft. Detrick lab formed about 18 pages of my report. At the time I wrote that report, the vaccine for HIV that had been developed in 6 months of work, had already been used by the Cabal since 1983.

It was a crime against humanity that the virus was unleashed on the world, and it continues to be a crime that the vaccine has been kept secret and for private use only.

Meanwhile, the outer research to get to a vaccine is an exercise in how not to arrive at a solution before millions more die. The initial “hopes” for HIV per its designers was to be able to walk into Africa and take the resources from a ghost continent. They had hyped it as killing everyone there within a year, in their pre-release reports.

The research at the Labs addressed the fastest way to make vaccines to Bio-warfare agents, both in labs, at a front, and impromptu on a battlefield. That was a pressing concern and one that was researched using millions and millions of dollars. Briefly, the consensus at the time was that

1) Any agent from a sick soldier left in a Waring Blender for 8 hours would be broken down well enough to not be infective in small doses ( i.e. less than a 100 germs). The Labs had made an IgM set of antibodies to sediment out the human HLA antigens by centrifuging it. That allowed the supernatant to be used as a vaccine with little serum sickness problems. A physician in a war zone equipped with a Waring Blender, a blood specimen centrifuge, and a vial of the IgM could make a fast “fresh” vaccine and start inoculating soldiers. The labs tested that using a variety of agents and common cold agents. It was only if one wanted to store the vaccine in vials that one got into the problem of denaturing the proteins of the agent due to heat, chemicals, etc. That was where most of the problems of loss of effectiveness crop up.

2) The Labs found that causing a 1cm by 1cm abrasion until one got lymph and applying a drop of the “fresh vaccine” and a band aid, worked almost as well as an injection. The abrasion could be caused by three fast firm strokes of very fine sand paper over a template with a square of skin bulging through it. This method had much less serum sickness problem. The major problem was occasion keloid and scar formation and superficial infections.

3) The Labs also showed that it was possible to make a crude live vaccine as an emergency directly on the battlefield. The principle was that infection occurs when the body’s defenses are overwhelmed but that the body can usually fend off 10 to 50 organisms even of Bio-warfare agents. It was a simple dilution to get the agent into the right ballpark, starting with a secretion of a sick person. Then a drop of that dilute live agent would be placed on an abrasion. That was also tested during war games with colds etc. The diluted material can’t be stored for longer than an hour due to the risk of multiplying the agent.

It was assumed that in the field it would not be known whether the agent was a virus or a bacteria. A bacteria that divided every 20 minutes could be 8 fold in quantity after an hour and risk causing the infection one was attempting to prevent. Of course, such a live agent could be extremely dangerous and except in an extreme emergency would not be used.

4) The issue of how to quickly sterilize a make-shift vaccine was also addressed in the research. The best method was to dry the agent, if time permitted. Second best was to preserve the agent in Vodka (40%), not gin, etc., and then to dilute it down to less than 2% alcohol before applying it to the abrasion.

That means that a simple vaccine for HIV can be made by virtually anyone in the world in a short period of time, though it would likely need to be repeated periodically to get and keep the titers up. But repeating it is a good idea anyway as that helps address the mutation problem. So, suppose one took 1 cc of secretions from each of 10 HIV patients in an area (without fungal infections preferably) and mixed them together to have a range of HIV agents. Then one could add 250 cc of Vodka and let it sit a week. Then one could remove a cc of that and add 20 cc of clean water to get a less than 2% alcohol solution.

A drop of that could be applied to an abrasion. That, I believe, would give you about 60% protection. Repeating that at intervals of about 2 weeks to a month for 6 months and using new HIV secretions every 6 to 12 months, I think would give one fairly good protection in a person with a normal immune system to start with. Of course, that is a crude method and should be tested for efficacy etc. But it is simple enough to test on sex workers, if they were willing to volunteer. They are at such high risk that the likely benefits almost certainly outweigh the risks. The chief risk would still be sensitization with human HLA proteins. The beauty of using abrasions is that one can wash the vaccine off as soon as any untoward reaction is noticed.

If you know of people doing HIV research who are not controlled by the US govt, could you please pass this information on to them? It would be good to get it out to those who could investigate this information with the intention of saving lives with it. Bio-warfare research is immoral and illegal. Unfortunately the US govt is accelerating that research and production of secret private vaccines.

Sincerely, Sue Arrigo, MD

An American Already Tortured By Cheney’s Team in the US [Report this comment]
Posted by: kunzangwangmo on Nov 11, 2005 10:16 PM

Current rating: Not yet rated [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]

As a coerced CIA asset, I was asked by Cheney in Aug. 2004 to frame Iran as developing nuclear weapons. Because Cheney was afraid of CIA leaks, he gave me the assignment at a Chinese restaurant in DC after hours.

It was not the first meeting that I have ever had privately with him as I acted as a negotiator between him and Tenet. Within the CIA I had been an outspoken critic of US wars of aggression, its nuclear first strike plans, and its breaking of nuclear arms control treaties.

I spent most of my life as an operative risking my life as a remote viewing spy monitoring and recovering lost WMD.

I am a doctor and the assignment Cheney gave me was to go to Iran as a physician. Once in Iran, a camera crew would be filming when an Iranian agent would rush in to say that he knew a secret bunker where the Iranian govt. was developing nuclear weapons. Cheney admitted that the rest of the filming would occur in Hollywood with a mock up of said lab.

Clearly, this was an immoral assignment. There was no way that I was going to have the blood of innocent Iranian women and children on my hands, so I refused.

When I did so, Cheney threatened the life of my mother. Since my mother had recently told me she would rather die than have me be emotionally blackmailed in this way, I held to my no.

During the course of our about 40 minute talk, one of his secret service officers interrupted us twice. The next week when I was kidnapped in Virginia, raped and tortured for 4 days, I recognized the voice of that officer as one of the rapists.

It is an outrage that Cheney is advocating torture. He has already shown by his actions, that he will stop at nothing, not even the torture of American born CIA personnel in order to get his way. He has a clear conflict of interest in making money off these wars.

Are we, as Americans, going to torture people just so that corrupt officials can line their pockets with oil and war profiteering revenues?

Please write your congresspersons to prevent others being tortured as I was. Cheney and Bush should be impeached for lying to force us into war. We are not winning the war on terrorism, torture is terrorism as anyone who had been through it knows. I was raped and subjected to three mock executions, when will this US reign of terror end?

Sincerely,
Sue Arrigo, MD

Why’s Lebanon burning? Israel should know

June 3, 2007

LEBANON is no stranger to conflicts. Especially those involving the Palestinians. But as my hero Robert Fisk, offering another ringside view of another war in the Middle East says, there is something really ‘obscene’ about watching the ever suffering Palestinians get caught in another war that is not of their making.

Already, more than 80 people are dead, most of them Palestinians. Even visibly harmless, pregnant women with harassed children in tow negotiating their way out of the check posts that have come up around Nahr Al Bared are not spared. They are in the line of fire both from the Lebanese soldiers and Fatah Al Islam gunmen.

Thousands of Palestinians have escaped with only their clothes on the back. Hundreds of families have been torn apart as they ran for their lives once again in their eventful history. The fact that most of these families are the survivors of the 1982 Invasion by Israel and the subsequent Sabra and Shatila massacres by Ariel Sharon’s goons only underscores the never-ending tragedy that is the Palestinian existence. How long will the Palestinians have to pay for the crimes that they have not committed?According to the UN, there are still nearly eight thousand Palestinian refugees trapped inside Nahr Al Bared that was originally home to nearly 40,000 of them, without food and war. Many of the Palestinians fled for safety after an informal ceasefire came into being last week. As I write this, the Lebanese troops have resumed their attack on the Lebanon has blamed ‘Fatah Al Islam terrorists’ for inflicting this latest crisis on the country and endangering the Palestinian civilian population. The Fatah Al Islam of course refuses to surrender. The Arab League too has blasted the group as ‘the terrorists’ offering its full support to the Lebanese government.I don’t know who the Fatah Al Islam guys are and what really is the agenda of these new ‘defenders’ of Islam. They are said to be the remnants of a Palestinian fringe group. They are accused of being sponsored and manipulated by Damascus and Teheran. Many others suggest that Fatah Al Islam are mere mercenaries who, unbeknownst to them, could be part of a bigger plot to destablise Lebanon and ensnare the already bedevilled Middle East into another conflict. The fact that the US has lost no time in jumping into the fray by rushing ‘military aid’ to the Fouad Siniora government gives credence to the second opinion.Whatever the reality of this low-intensity conflict, in the end it is the Palestinians who are the real victims of this campaign. And the real architects of this conflict, as has been the case with most conflicts in the Middle East over the past half century, are the Israelis. There are nearly 400,000 Palestinians living in Lebanon. Goes without saying that they had been driven into Lebanon, just as they had been driven elsewhere, because of the Israeli occupation of their land. And if the Palestinians continue to suffer even today it’s because of the Israeli occupation. Many in the Lebanese media and establishment accuse the Palestinians of being responsible for all their woes, from the Israeli invasion of 1982 to the long civil war of ‘80s and ‘90s. The Nahr Al Bared crisis is also blamed on the Palestinians and their half a century long presence in the country. I know it is not easy putting up with the guests who have stayed on for six decades. And the Lebanese people have already paid a huge price by way of their involvement in this conflict. However, the Palestinians are not there in Lebanon by choice. Just as they are not there in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and elsewhere in the Arab world of their own accord. These beaten, bruised and besieged people are wandering all over the Middle East and the world because their own homeland has been occupied and stolen by Israel. And the ever-dignified and proud people that they are, the Palestinians do not enjoy being a burden on any one. Not on Lebanon. Not on any other country, if they can help it. Six decades on and many generations later, the Palestinians continue to dream of going home one day — back to the country that lives on inside their hearts. If you have ever seen Palestinian children reverentially holding aloft those ancient keys to the abandoned homes of their parents and grandparents, you would know what I am talking about. It’s a hope and dream that Israeli tanks and its mighty soldiers with their powerful weapons and influential friends can never kill. The Palestinian refugees do not exactly live in ideal conditions elsewhere in the Middle East. Poverty, unemployment and other problems that go with them are common everywhere, just as they are in the Occupied Territories. They are seen with suspicion and have little freedom of movement or action, wherever they are. However, Lebanon is easily the worst of them all for the Palestinians. Living in abject poverty and squalid conditions, they are prisoners in their camps for all intents and purposes. This is not my view but the shared opinion of the UN aid agencies and civil society groups working in the region. The Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have no rights, freedom or dignity, to speak of. As some conscientious UN officials and independent journalists have tried to report, the Palestinians have been caught yet again in a dangerous game of big powers. And they are being meted out collective punishment for what they are. The Western media has already condemned them for ‘supporting Al Qaeda elements.’If Fatah Al Islam snipers are shooting at Palestinian women and children fleeing Nahr Al Bared, the Lebanese tanks are firing deep inside the refugee camp — ostensibly at Fatah Al Islam terrorists. However, they always end up targeting Palestinian civilians. Two mosques in the camp have been severely damaged in indiscriminate mortar assault on the camp. One wonders where the Lebanese army’s awesome fire-power was when Israel attacked Southern Lebanon last year. Interestingly, Fatah Al Islam fighters, condemned as Al Qaeda by Beirut and Washington, are said to have been helped out of jail and moved from Ein Al Helwe refugee camp in Saida, Lebanon by the powers that be — with the acquiescence of the Lebanese army — to the Tripoli area. Now this group is being attacked, along with Palestinian refugees, by the very entities that created it. And no one has a clue what motivated this political manoeuvring. Whatever it is, it might not have very pleasant implications for an already volatile region. But that is a side issue and of little significance compared to the bigger issues at stake. And the real issue at the heart of this conflict in Lebanon is not the Palestinian presence or their manipulation by the numerous players and power brokers in the country. At the core of Lebanon’s instability lies the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands. If Palestinians are a growing burden on small and politically fragile countries like Lebanon, look no further than next door for causes. It is the occupation that not only continues to strangulate and radicalise the Palestinians but also is responsible for the continuing instability and chaos across the Arab and Muslim world.  If Lebanon is on the brink today, thank the Jewish state. If Iraq is burning and appears all set to disintegrate, the credit should again go to Israel. After all, it was Israel and its powerful friends in the US establishment who played a key role in persuading Bush to invade Iraq by portraying it as a ‘threat’ to God’s own country. Again, if the US goes after Iran tomorrow, it will be because of Israel. The Islamist Iran has cleverly been built into a ‘clear and present danger’ to the state of Israel. (But with friends like Ahmadinejad, do you really need enemies like Israel?) I know we have been here before. But if the Muslim world — from Mediterranean to the Far East — remains dangerously agitated and unstable, Israel’s never-ending subjugation and persecution of Palestinians is to blame.

If the gulf between the West and Muslim world continues to widen, it is not because of some pathological hatred of all things Western and Christian in Muslim hearts. It is Israel’s policies towards the Palestinians and the West’s connivance of this apartheid regime that make our world a dangerous place to live in.

THE NATIONAL HERO OF 9/11 IS A TRUTHER!!!

June 3, 2007

WilliamBush2.jpg
He was a guest of honor at Bush’s White House.

WilliamHillary.jpg
Hilary Clinton honored him too.

William Rodriguez was literally the last man out of the World Trade Center. This wasn’t because he couldn’t get out sooner. No. William Rodriguez CHOSE to stay in the building in order to save as many as 100 lives that day.As head janitor, he was one of only 5 men in the WTC complex that had a master key for some of the stair wells. The other men all fled as soon as the 9/11 attack started. But William Rodriguez stayed behind because he knew that the firemen not only needed his key to rescue people, but they also needed his help because he knew the towers like the back of his hand. And so, he went back in, again, and again, even after firefighters had ordered him to leave. After rescuing an estimated 100 lives that day, the North Tower suddenly began to explode and collapse down upon him. Rodriguez didn’t have time to run away from the falling tower, so he threw himself under a nearby firetruck. With very little air, he remained buried under this truck for many hours until he was rescued.

A genuine hero, Rodriguez became an overnight media sensation and polticians lined up to have their photos taken with him. But as Rodriguez began to tell his account of what he witnessed that day, the media attention went away. Despite his outspoken activism as a 9/11 truther, the media continues to pretend he doesn’t exist.

The 9/11 commission also ignored Rodriguez. He was able to use his name to testify before the government commission, BUT THE COMMISSION MADE HIM DO IT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Worse yet, the final report deleted his testimony.

Rodriguez testified that there was a huge explosion IN THE BASEMENT of the tower BEFORE the plane even hit. He went on to describe how he saved the life of Felipe David, who had his skin blown off IN THE BASEMENT. The basement blast was so strong that it slightly lifted Rodriguez off of his feet. How could this be if the plane struck a quarter of a mile ABOVE? He also heard bombs going off as he was rescuing people in the upper floors. There are numerous other witnesses to the horrific basement blasts and other explosions of 9/11, but Rodriguez’s testimony is most powerful because of his hero status. Rodriguez also describes some other very strange happenings taking place at the WTC in the weeks leading up to the attacks.

But Rodriguez’s heroism doesn’t end with 9/11. Since that time he has turned away offers of political favor in exchange for his silence. Instead, he has dedicated himself to exposing the truth about 9/11. He has met with foreign officials and appeared on radio shows, always deomostrating the same courage and character that he showed on 9/11. William Rodriguez is a shining example of what a true man, and a true American should be.

‘Shin Bet involved in 1976 hijacking’

June 3, 2007

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) may have been involved in the hijacking of an Air France plane in 1976 by Palestinian terrorists, according to newly declassified British government documents released Friday. Some 100 passengers were held by hijackers at Entebbe airport in Uganda during an eight-day ordeal that concluded when General Staff Reconnaissance Unit (Sayeret Matkal) troops stormed the building where the captives were held.

Twenty-four people died in the shoot-out, including three hostages, 20 Ugandans and the commander of the rescue team, Yoni Netanyahu, brother of current opposition head Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud).

The hijackers, from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine  (PFLP) and the German Baader-Meinhof gang, demanded the release of Palestinian prisoners.

But according to the newly released documents, the Shin Bet and the PFLP are alleged to have teamed up in an “unholy alliance” in an attempt to change foreign policy in the Middle East.

The allegation appeared in a document written by official DH Colvin at the British embassy in Paris, quoting a contact at the Euro-Arab Parliamentary Association, as the crisis unfolded.

“According to his information, the hijack was the work of the PFLP, with help from the Israeli Secret Service, the Shin Bet,” he wrote.

“The operation was designed to torpedo the PLO’s (Palestine Liberation Organization) standing in France and to prevent what they see as a growing rapprochement between the PLO and the Americans.

“Their nightmare is that… one will witness the imposition in the Middle East of a Pax Americana, which will be to the advantage of the PLO (who will gain international respectability and perhaps the right to establish a state on evacuated territories) and to the disadvantage of the Refusal Front (who will be squeezed right out in any overall peace settlement and will lose their raison d’etre) and Israel who will be forced to evacuate occupied territory. Hence the unholy alliance of the hijacking.”

The document also suggested that then Ugandan president Idi Amin may have been collaborating with the hijackers.

The document was released by the National Archives in London.

Shimon Peres, who was defense minister at the time of the hijacking and Entebbe rescue, said over the weekend that the claims were so outrageously baseless that they did not merit comment.
