The Bush Administration says yes, citing a grainy, badly-edited videotape that surfaced in December, 2001. In that tape, a fat guy who vaguely resembles Bin Laden chortles about the success of the 9/11 attacks. (In earlier interviews, Bin Laden had denied responsibility for 9/11, once even deploring the loss of civilian life in the attacks and calling them un-Islamic.)
Is the famous “confession video” genuine? Despite Bush’s insistence that the tape is authentic, America’s top academic Bin Laden expert has finally gone on the record, joining numerous other experts.
“It’s bogus,” says Professor Bruce Lawrence, head of Duke University’s Religious Studies program.
Lawrence, author of Messages to the World: The Statements of Osama Bin Laden, offered his historic debunking of the administration’s lie in an interview with Kevin Barrett (“Dynamic Duo,” gcnlive.com, 2/16/2007, first hour). The interview marked Lawrence’s first major public statement since he made headlines last year by suggesting that recent Osama tapes are hoaxes and that the real Osama Bin Laden may be dead.
Why has the Bush Administration been lying for more than five years by telling us that this preposterously bad hoax is a genuine “confession video”? Lawrence, citing informants in the US intelligence apparatus’s Bin Laden units, said that everyone knows the tape is fake, adding that the hoax has been kept alive because it is politically useful to those who wish to deflect attention from
“conspiracy theories” about 9/11.
If Professor Lawrence is right—and anyone with eyes can see that he is, simply by comparing the overweight impostor in the Fatty Bin Laden bogus confession video to other pictures of Osama Bin Laden—the Bush Administration, by repeatedly citing the tape as authentic, is clearly guilty of obstruction of justice at best, high treason and conspiracy to mass murder at worst. Since the FBI now tells us that Osama Bin Laden is “not wanted for 9/11″ because there is “no hard evidence” connecting him to the 9/11 attacks, and since US intelligence personnel all know the “confession tape” is a Bush Administration hoax, it should not be difficult to nail the perpetrators of this outrageous cover-up of the crime of the century.
It is time for Congress or an appropriate judicial authority to mount an investigation of the Fatty Bin Laden bogus confession video.
Where did this tape come from? Who was responsible for the
administration’s claim that it is authentic, despite widespread knowledge in relevant intelligence agencies that it is bogus? If Bruce Lawrence is correct in asserting that US intelligence personnel know the tape is fake, we need to put them, along with Bush and Cheney, under oath and find out why our government has been lying so outrageously for more than five years in order to obstruct justice by shielding the real perpetrators of 9/11.

No, there isn’t a problem. OBL has a kidney disorder and may be undergoing dialysis. If he was on the run in that video he may have been slightly bloated from lack of medical treatment. And while he may be a natural lefty, muslims are encouraged to use their right hand for writing and eating because the Prophet Mohammed aportioned most ordinary tasks to the right and left hands. That video may have been of candid quality because it was shot just before the Taliban fell in 2001. The various other participants in the video have all been confirmed as intimate Al Quada higher ups. The video is criticised in the voice over as being poorly edited. LOL! Not nearly as poorly edited as by the “Inside Job” filmmaker. We didn’t see OBL’s intimate friends sitting next to him in the video mentioned in that little voice overed severly edited by “truthers” clip. Which of course, betrays the film makers as more manipulative than ignorant.
Kevin Barrett is a devoted muslim convert and a published apologist for his religious faith. The Islamic faith allows al takiya, or the conveying of deliberate disinformation if it advances the cause of Islam. A good deal of 9/11 inside jobism attempts to absolve muslims from any complicity in 9/11, which involvement might make Al Quada proud, yet humiliates the average muslim. Professor Lawrence can have any opinion he wants, for all we know he’s a CIA asset simply gaining confidence to debrief Barrett surreptitiously after his recent, suspicious trip to the Arab world. Many of us reject Berrett’s Muslim beliefs, finding it surprising that he would not investigate the origin of the spurious Koran (“revelation from heaven”, lacking witnesses) as well as he has investigated 9/11. But what will you do with us Christians, who did not make a “suspicious trip to the Arab world” (as did Rumsfeld during the Reagan administration to Saddam)! Interestingly, seems like you have your own “conspiracy theory” about Barrett. Ironic isn’t it?
The idea that the FBI could profile Bin Laden as “left handed” if he was ambidextrous, is an insult to the FBI, who stated they have “no hard evidence connecting bin Laden to 9/11″. Distinguishing marks are not so easily dismissed by experts in criminology, but how convenient to entirely discredit the observations made. Interestingly, the FBI does not seem to agree with you about any “hard evidence”. Allegation by repetition do not equal “facts”.

Many of us do not trust the neoconservative cabal who wrote about “a new a New Pearl Harbor” as a “catalyzing event” (and patterned like Operation Northwoods) who “fixed the intelligence around the policy” (i.e. a habit of invented or planted evidence) to go to war, all fit so coincidentally their plan for a “new middle east” outlined in the PNAC document of Sept. 2000. Interesting how Silverstein has a close friendship with Netanyahu the radical Likudist, when the policy after 9/11, after the demolitions, conveniently assists the Zionist Israeli agenda so well, as well as the neoconservative blueprint.
